I am always so inspired by what others are making and doing. I see so many possibilities and start thinking to myself "What is this teaching me or telling me that I need to learn more about?" Well, that happened a few months ago. I was intrigued by a post I saw online from Sewcial Ambition. I have been following Melanie and her page for a while now. She is an extremely talented quilter and teacher extraordinaire! She specializes in BeColourful by Jacqueline de Jonge patterns, amazing quilted garments, and bags. I had been pinning for a Tamarack Jacket for quite some time now and I decided that the best way to make one is to sign up for one of her classes.

All I can say is WOW! What an adventure. With the help of my longarm angel Lucie, we quilted up my fabric and I prepared what I needed for the class. I have to say I was nervous, and anxious all while being excited to start. I have never made anything like this before so it was totally out of my comfort zone. I knew that I was in good hands and I would definitely come away with a great looking project! The tips and tricks I received during the classes were true gifts and made such an impact on my results. I honestly did not think that it would turn out like it did. Melanie took the time and explained each step with great detail. There were a few ah ha moments and a few "factory approved variances" LOL along the way! Thank you Melanie and the crew at Quilters Barn and Gifts for the amazing experience!

Ta Da! Here is my finished Tamarack Jacket. I customized the back with a large quilt block. Fabrics are mixed Kim Dielh collections. I am so proud of this project! It turned out even better than I could ever imagine. I will definitely be wearing this!

The best take aways for me from this class are that, no matter what, there is always room to learn something new. As a quilter, designer and teacher myself, it is extremely important for me to continue learning new things so that I can continue to grow and perfect my skills. There is so much to be inspired by out there! My best advice... don't be afraid to take a leap, sign up for that class or course you might surprise yourself!

I can't believe the day is finally here! I am overjoyed to share with you my newest pattern Blossoms!

I really wanted to design something that was festive and fun for any season and I really think that the Blossoms Table Runner captured that! Whether it be a sunflower, a posie or a pointsettia, it's wonderful in any colour combination!

If you want to get your hands on one of these patterns you can find it here in my shop and in my Etsy Shop www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SkyeThistleQuilts.

Hardcopies of the pattern will also be available at Auntie Em's Quilting and Scrapbooking (Cornwall, ON), Quilters Barn and Gifts (Russell, ON) and Taylor Sewing Quilt Shop (Brockville, ON).

Want to join in on a fun day of learning? I will be teaching this pattern at Auntie Em's on October 26, and November 30 2024. Check out the link above to register.

Let's bring on the creativity and have a blast! 😄

Cheers,

Annik

Over the last several weeks I have been busy with the local fair and wrapping up quite a few projects! Let's just say I have not had much time for gardening, and I feel terrible for neglecting my tomatoes!

As I have previously shared, I have been busy working on several new designs and I thought I would share a sneak peak at my next release Blossoms. It will be available September 13, 2024.
