About Me

I’m the designer behind Skye Thistle Quilts. I believe quilting should feel encouraging, not overwhelming—and that the fabric you love holds more potential than you might think.

I design with flexibility in mind and a deep love for community, scraps, and quilts that tell a story. Quilting has a way of connecting us, and I’m so glad you’re here.

My quilting journey began in my early twenties, and I’ve never looked back. I like to blame my mother and my aunts for influencing my love of quilting, sewing, knitting, and even cooking. Creativity has always been part of my life, and I’m rarely working on just one project at a time.

My quilts often include many small pieces. I’m not entirely sure why, but the more pieces in a block, the more irresistible it becomes to me. I also have a bit of an obsession with precision piecing—especially when working with smaller pieces, where accuracy really shines.

I love learning new techniques and continually refining my skills to create beautiful, thoughtfully made quilts. Sharing what I’ve learned and helping others grow their confidence at the sewing machine is incredibly important to me. I hope you’ll stop by my blog to see what I’m working on and sewing up in the studio.

The idea for Skye Thistle Quilts came to life during a quiet moment of doodling, when I realized it was time to give my dream quilt pattern shop a name. Skye is the name of the road my husband grew up on, and Thistle is the emblematic Scottish flower—chosen to represent the strong Scottish heritage that is so prominent in our area.

In 2023, I was invited to teach a class at Auntie Em’s Scrapbooking and Quilting in Cornwall, Ontario. I was so excited for the opportunity, and the planning process sparked a new level of creativity. That class inspired me to design my very first quilt pattern, and from there, things grew naturally.

That first class was an incredible experience—and well… here I am, a Canadian quilt pattern designer, creating patterns and projects meant to encourage creativity, flexibility, and joyful stitching.

Thank you for being here and for sharing in this quilting journey with me.
